Live DeFi chain with named backers and no regulator warnings found, but down ~86% from its 2024 peak

Injective is a DeFi-focused Layer-1 blockchain. Its token launched in October 2020, its mainnet in November 2021 and its native EVM mainnet in November 2025, according to the project's own white paper. In the notes provided, no regulator warnings, enforcement actions or lawsuits were found. The CEO is named, and the Injective Foundation published a MiCA white paper. Weak points are that the Foundation says it has no committed roadmap for INJ, the price is far below its March 2024 high, and a lot of the recent news is driven by ETF speculation.

**Red flags**
- The price was about $7.29 on 4 Nov 2026 against an all-time high of about $52.6–52.9 on 14 Mar 2024. That is roughly 86% down by my own calculation.
- CoinDesk ran an analysis headlined "Injective, Underperforming in Crypto Markets, Now Plans Layer-3 Chain on Arbitrum".
- The Foundation explicitly has no committed roadmap for INJ, so there are no binding promises to hold it to.
- The notes contain no full incorporation or jurisdiction record for the Foundation or the operating company.
- An SEC filing for a proposed Canary staked-INJ ETF says the SEC has identified possible fraud and manipulation risks in the INJ market. This is a risk disclosure, not an action against Injective.
- Much of the recent price coverage is driven by ETF speculation and short-term moves, which makes the market volatile.
- At launch, 84.82 million of the 100 million INJ were locked under cliffs and release schedules, so supply has been released gradually (Blockworks disclosure).
- Community feedback in the notes is mostly Reddit, which is a thin base.

**Green flags**
- The mainnet has been live since November 2021 and the native EVM mainnet since November 2025, per the project's white paper.
- CEO Eric Chen is named, and the Injective Foundation is the disclosing entity on the MiCA white paper and tokenomics paper.
- Named backers include Pantera, Jump Crypto, Brevan Howard / BH Digital and Mark Cuban, per Injective's own posts.
- No regulator warnings, enforcement actions, lawsuits or criminal cases were found in the provided results.
- Injective Labs and the Foundation have engaged with the SEC through meetings and comment letters, per SEC-hosted records.
- Ground News reported an Oct 2026 announcement that Injective became an SEC-registered transfer agent, and that Gulf Labs joined as a validator.
- The notes mention INJ futures on a CFTC-regulated exchange.
- No major protocol hack and no verified missed-launch deadline were found in the provided results.
- No strong evidence of withdrawal or refund problems was found.
